Videos, events and a photo project

A couple of cycling videos, notice of a music event and a history conference, and a chance to show off your style...

Sue Archer writes:

Hutchinson Tyres Advert

Jason Patient of Cycling Images has sent a link to a video edited by Colville Andersen, proprietor of Copenhagen Cycle Chic.

The original ad features the same relaxed lady, but also a rather more full-on 'urban' fixie rider.

Stella role for tandems
Earlier this year Velo Visionary Roger Lovell of Cyclemagic was asked to round up a couple of dozen vintage racing tandems for a Stella Artois commercial. After scouring the country for suitable looking frames and parts, he accompanied the bikes to the film shoot and the final result can now be seen here. "Cycles" Music event
David Gardiner writes to tell us about an event to take place in Edinburgh on the 12th of November, at the Out of the Blue Drill Hall. "Cycles" starts at 5pm with a cycle fair, including Bike Doctor, displays, demonstrations and cycling information, followed at 8pm by a performance by Thomas Strønen, Norwegian jazz musician, composer and keen cyclist. The organisers say: "Thomas Strønen will be performing his “Music Metrique” with string players from Mr McFall’s Chamber – Robert McFall on violin, Brian Schiele on viola, Su-a Lee on cello and Rick Standley on double bass. Several of the pieces refer to cycling, including one, “Crouch Position”, which is dedicated to the Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree. Two other new works, one by the group’s bass player Rick Standley and another by viola player Brian Schiele (“Unreliable Cycles”), will also receive their premiere performances at this event."

Entrance to the cycle fair is free, tickets to the concert are £8 on the door or £6 in advance. See here for venue and contact details.

Cycling History Conference
The 20th International Cycling History Conference will be taking place in Freehold, New Jersey, USA, from July 30th to August 1st, 2009. Details of the conference, including registration forms, can be found here.

Photograher seeks stylish cyclists
Photographer Marcus Ross asks: "Are you a Londoner? Do you own a bike? Do you ride it with style? Do you know someone like this? If so, I'd love to hear from you. LondonBikeStyle is a project by photographer, Marcus Ross, photographing the great and the good of London's cyclists. If you have an interesting or unusual bike, or you ride you bike with a sense of style and panache, get in touch. LondonBikeStyle will consist of 100 different people with their bikes. I am particularly keen to find an interesting cross-section of people, from all walks of life, with a great age range. LondonBikeStyle will culminate in a book and an exhibition. If you would like to be part of this exciting project, please get in touch with your contact details, and a photograph of you and your bicycle. Likewise, if you know of anyone who you think would be worth photographing for this, I would be very grateful if you could pass on my details."

You can see some of the project so far by going to Marcus's website. He doesn't seem to have a recumbent so far....
