mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 05, 2012 04:05PM What do I use on the way to work tonight? Think I might use my fairing as a snowplough. Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Only about an inch here last night but its thawing now. Rubbish. Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 05, 2012 05:14PM Had probably six inches here in York - went shopping yesterday in it just for fun (on old yellow bike not the trike). Not sure which i'll ride to work tomorrow... -- Peter Eland - Velo Vision publisher Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 05, 2012 10:07PM Roads were clear by the time I left. Don't think the trice mini would have coped with it anyway. Wheels are on the small side. Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 06, 2012 09:10AM I rode my bike too this morning - just got in. Main roads cleared by traffic, but had to walk the last bit on a less used road, and through the car park... bike a better choice than trike I think as you can filter through stuck traffic better. -- Peter Eland - Velo Vision publisher Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 06, 2012 06:35PM I rode my mountain bike today (as it has the winter tyres on). What it doesn't have is a rear mudguard (as the bolts were too short for it after I put the rack on) so I had a very mucky jacket on when I arrived home this evening.
I have the longer bolts I need now to fit the mudguard, so if I need the winter bike tomorrow I'll quickly fit it back on before heading out to work. I'm hoping there'll be no ice tomorrow though so I can take the Pashley instead. Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 06, 2012 08:16PM Strangely enough when I came to get my bike this evening to go home the snow revealed it was the only bike to have been parked at the building all day... -- Peter Eland - Velo Vision publisher Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike

Date: February 06, 2012 09:12PM I've been astonished at the number of colleagues this year still cycling in to work pretty much whatever the weather. Last winter I was one of only maybe two or three in the bike shed during the coldest weather, but this year my bike is one of maybe half a dozen every day without fail.
The impression I get is that maybe 2/3rds of us cycle mainly to save money. Maybe 1/3rd of us cycle for the enjoyment of it. Last year I would have said the proportion was the other way around. The numbers in the summer were a lot larger this year than last too. Two years running of no pay rises seems to have done wonders for cycling in our company! Re: mountain bike or recumbent trike
