Scottish cyclists turn up at Holyrood

In case anyone hasn't heard, on Saturday in Edinburgh a bunch of cyclists rode from the Meadows to the High Street and down to the Scottish Parliament as a solid demonstration of the desire for safer cycling for everyone. The organisers expected 300 or so, the Police planned for perhaps 1000, and at least 2500 people turned up.

The overwhelming mass were on standard bikes of course ... I reckon that tandems and recumbents may have made 20 of the 2000 so about right. Not all LB ones either as not all of my customers wanted to try out their skills at 2mph!

It was a nice day out and had people from all over - one of my Fuego customers cycled through from Glasgow.

Some screen grabs from an ICE QNT rider's headcam. I was behind on a Helios tandem with Irene. Nick Lobnitz on Paper Bicycle just ahead of Paseo

I'm not hopeful to be honest.

Even if the government gets it into it's head to do something, it will probably be something like require a larger quota of new "cycle lanes".

You know, those white lines they paint on pavements for 20 yards or so.....

Still, it looks like a fun day out if nothing else!
