Can anyone recommend a good workstand
Posted by: eldridgepaul (IP Logged)
Date: September 28, 2010 09:13AM Hi, Can anyone recommend a good workstand than would be suitable for use with a Bacchetta recumbent bike and a Windcheetah recumbent trike for around ?100? I'm fed up with trying to balance them against walls or on chairs etc when trying to work on them. Re: Can anyone recommend a good workstand

Date: September 28, 2010 09:39PM For my Trice, I use the box it came in - all wheels off the ground, can turn the pedals, etc. My Frankenbent has been supported by my Edinburgh Bicycles Revolution Workstand - not sure how it would fare with your Bacchetta, but it's reasonable value for money and I even use it for working on the tandem (holding one end at a time). Date: September 29, 2010 12:05AM I have just had a look at the Revolution workstand on the web, it looks ideal and its a good price. I'm sure if it can hold a tandem it will hold my Bacchetta and Windcheetah. Just sold my Windcheetah Speedy and have a new Windcheetah compactsport coming in the next week or so i thought its about time to invest in a good workstand. Thanks very much for the advice. Take care. Re: Can anyone recommend a good workstand

Date: September 29, 2010 06:23PM The Revolution workstand is probably up to the task, weightwise, but do check that a) the clamp will open large enough for a 50mm tube as per Speedy, and b) you can actually clamp your bike and trike frame top and bottom.
Inspecting things in person I wasn't totally convinced that either of these criteria would be met, but the Park PRS-15 with its Extreme Range Clamp is brilliant. It will hold a Speedmachine's frame, or a RANS V2, just as easily and at seemingly impossible angles. Park's new PRS-25 is frighteningly expensive, and wins on build quality and ease of use, but the traditional clamp jaw orientation is less useful for recumbents than its predecessor. You can retrofit the Extreme Range Clamp to most of Park's other workstands, but not the PCS-9 or PCS-10. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 29/09/2010 08:28PM by arellcat.
