Handy app to get to summary of web news. Shame it is only iPhone as it gets a bit pixalated viewed at x2 on iPad .
Any chance of iPad specific version?

There's absolutely no reason why I couldn't do an iPad specific version - my main thinking behind making the app iPhone only initially was that people with iPads, myself included, would be more likely to read the site using Safari.

I'll look into it, but given the glacial pace Apple's review process at the moment don't expect it to appear for at least a couple of weeks.

Any chance of an app for Blackberry?

Categorically, no.

To elaborate: initially, I will only be supporting iOS devices. If there's enough demand for an Android version then I'll consider it but there are a number of things that make me less than inclined to do this (version fragmentation being one, lack of an Android phone being another)

The chances of any other mobile platforms (Blackberry, Symbian etc.) being supported are, at present, somewhere on the far side of nil.

I've created a code fork for an iPad specific version of the app - hopefully we'll be able to put in some 'value added' content and maybe a few other bits and bobs that are better suited to the larger screen.

Volunteers to run test-builds are welcome - you can contact me via Pete at Velo Vision Towers.

Sadly true. For those youths who still have to go that is.

Busy day today, doing just what I want to do, and tomorrow and the next day, and the one after that and the one after that and the one after that and the one after that and the one after that and the one after that and the one...etc

Not that I'm happy to be retired of course, much rather be getting up early and putting up with the madness of the commute and the hassle from the boss and the rest of it.

Nah! :-)

Work on an iPad-specific app is now well underway, largely on account of me having no life (tried to get one but the LBS were out of stock) but also because I can reuse large chunks of the iPhone version :-)

Anybody interested in doing a bit of beta testing, feel free to contact me. Once York Rally is out of the way we should be abe to sort some suitabe 'value added' material.

The bugfix version (v1.1.1) of the iPhone app is now available for download/update - there has been some feedback, some useful some not so useful. To all the interface haters, yes, the interface is as clunky as hell but I'm a programmer not a designer - I'm completely open to suggestions as how the 'user experience' (I hate that expression) can be improved.

The next version of the iPhone app, currently underway, will support landscape mode (it was a conscious decision to support portrait only initially, since this is how most folk use their phones - this was the wrong decision, so it's time to rectify it) and there'll be the ability to share articles etc. with your favourite social networks.

Dedicated iPad version will follow, now that we've sorted out a bit of value-added content for Velo Vision virgins (two complete issues in PDF with funky page-turning effects)

A new version of the iPhone app has been submitted - it fixes a few little niggles and now supports portrait and landscape modes. The update will be available through iTunes as per usual once the reviewers are done with it.

iPad version to follow shortly, I hope.

The iPad app is currently on hiatus, mainly because I've had other things on my plate (looking for another job, for one thing) but also the recent introduction of iOS5 has thrown quite a few spanners in the works with regard to my other apps (some work fine, some sorta-kinda work and others just crash horribly) so I've got *that* to sort out too.

The biggest problem with the iPad app, however, is working out what exactly we want it to do - the iPhone app works because it makes navigating site content relatively easy without having to resort to Safari, whereas this problem doesn't really arise on the iPad (ie. Safari is usable) - we've got some value-added content, of course, but it still feels like there's something missing.

As far as I can tell, the VV iPhone app works fine with iOS 5, although I'm preparing an update which should make it fully iOS5 friendly (including social network sharing etc.)

Getting it to display magazine content is the main point IMO - a couple of free sample issues initially, as an additional incentive to download the app and as a taster for newcomers, possibly other issues as paid extras later...

Also the reader system would be great re-jigged as a free Electric Bike app so that people have a mobile alternative to the Issuu reader...

Just a note that Simon's just posted the free Electric Bike iPad reader app:

[itunes.apple.com]

The VV one will follow shortly - we'll try to incorporate any feedback from Electric Bike first! So please do try the EB app (assuming you have an iPad of course :-)

I'm currently working on an iPhone version of the EBM Reader app - I'm not sure if it'll work in terms of usability, but there's only one way to find out :-)

If it *does* work, then chances are that something similar will be done for Velo Vision too.

The iPhone version of the Electric Bike Mag app was submitted for review yesterday. Since the App Store review process stops at weekends (really!) I'm not sure when it'll appear - recent experience suggests 7-10 days.

The iPad app is a free download - the iPhone version will be too.
