It isn't recumbent I know, but this design offers great flexibility and a fair amount of fun. So many family solutions require parents to change machines every few years. This way you have a useful bike that can grow with you and will compliment the other bikes you use without taking too much space. With the Circe you can drop of a child at nursery or school and still have capacity to head off to work. A tandem also allows your 'passenger' to fully participate in helping to power along and builds up their cycling ability. Handling is predictable and secure too. For two adults the design handles really well. Check out the Audax and other versions available here. [www.circecycles.com] to see the full model range. [laid-back-bikes.co.uk] now have a demo of this machine at the Bicycle Works in Edinburgh. ? Aluminium frame with excellent paint finish and components ? Adjusts from small child to adult - CRANK SHORTENERS can be supplied ? Load carrying rack available - including standard Rhode style childseat (or seats!). Plugs into seat posts - one very slick feature that's easy to use. ? 210cm long ? Chain on one side means no oil on your clothes when you pick up over right shoulder. Standard tandems have chain on left just where you don't want it. ? Neat and light enough to cycle solo ? Big enough to suit two adults ? Can be fitted with Blackburn rear rack ? Rohloff version available ? Entry level price of £1200 The Circe is the perfect multi-use vehicle that will suit those that may not have a garage. I can carry this up a spiral staircase quite easily. This is a bike you can use every day of the year (with mudguards). The low step over frame is user friendly and has a potential loading area that is huge for its 'footprint'.

Date: September 24, 2010 07:49PM The Circe has been quite a success with owners.
One even made it to China. An Edinburgh family took trans Siberian and cycled across Mongolia. 3000km. Picture here - their blog link to follow. The loaded up pretty heavily and bike did fine even though many roads were unpaved. They fitted a front pannier rack and used the 18 speed version with a 39/52 on front and 11-32 on back. I've sold more with Alfine 8 speed hube with gear rated down a bit for hills using an 18T. Their bike was fitted with Blackburn expedition rack so it could take child seat and Thorn stoker bars. Crank shorteners fitted too. The latest version has lugs for rear rack. Scroll down for pic. Some other road trip links too. [www.laid-back-bikes.co.uk] FOR SALE Ex-Demo.
