A mate of mine had a free trial copy of Velo Vision, and after he'd done with it, he happened to have it in the cab of the train he drives, kept meaning to pass it on. One day he saw a couple of recumbent bike riders get on, so he got talking to them, found they were Dutch, and gave them the mag...

On the way home from work yesterday I stopped off for an ice cream at the seaside, Genner in Denmark. While I was enjoying my ice a recumbent cycle stopped next to me and the guy on it asked me in German the way to the campsite.

I asked if he spoke English as German is not my top language and by luck he did. It turns out he is riding from Munster in Germany to somewhere in Sweden. We talked about his bike and my Trice and then I remembered that I had a 2006 copy of the VeloVision in my car which I gave to him for a bit of evening reading.

He was very grateful and could not believe that he had ran into an Englishman at the seaside in Denmark who just happened to have a cycle magazine in his car that contained lots of recumbents. I could not believe I had seen a recumbent in my neck of the woods either.

Germany 4 England 1......I am not bitter.
