Magura
Hydraulic brake makers Magura have just announced a new super-lightweight version for road bikes.

Splinterbike
Jason Patient writes with a link to a new BBC story about the all-wood and glue Splinterbike, saying "His previous bike set a land speed record last year, reaching 11.25 mph around a velodrome."

Here's one of the previous BBC reports:

Cyclemobility closes
Commiserations to Cyclingmobility, the journal for transport planners and campaigners, which is now facing an uncertain future after its publishers announced its closure. The staff are seeking a buyer who might wish to continue the publication, however.

Geoff rides the Cleland
Thanks to Jonty for spotting this, showing designer Geoff Apps riding his Cleland Cycles Aventura off-road cycle through some challenging conditions:

Much more on the Magura brakes at

Starting to wonder if they might be useful for touring too (especially for bikes without canti bosses) if the braking power is as good as they report. But £399 a pair... sadly I don't think I move in the right (racing bike) circles to get sent a set for review!

And now hydraulic rim brakes and road disks from SRAM:

Options are opening up for drop bar users who like hydraulics...
