Timeout for editing (3 replies and 4 comments)
Hi JJ,
Definitely something that needs adjusting, I agree. I'm looking into it today.
Thanks for raising it with me 🙂
I had a look at making the change from 200 seconds. It is one of the functions embedded in the 'paid extensions', which I have not purchased. We are running on the free (ish) Wordpress plugin. I think that if we can work with what we've got here, then we should stick with it, as is. Sorry for the inconvenience of the 200s thing. I could try a hack in a minute..
If we identify more forum functions as we go on, then I think we should take a look the situation again.
Because the title of the post cannot be changed by anyone except admin (after the 200s), I suggest the following workarounds:
That in the classifieds and advertisers forum, I could manually change the title after the author has added the final message to say 'sold' or whatever.
and/or:
I could also close the topic.
I made some changes in the code. Can everyone now see the 'spanner' with edit and delete against their own posts, and replies?
Cheers,
Howard.
..or 'wrench' for USers
Working for me, Howard, able to edit my original classified entry.
Works for me to (once I remembered to log-in - on the old web site the log-in persisted for a few days, while on the new site it only seems to last while I am connected to the site).

Just a test, to see if this is still true.
Hi Howard, I posted this as a comment on my own want-ad but it may not get seen there.
I went to edit my post to resolved - as suggested - but the edit spanner times out, leaving me unable to do so. Lots of forums I have seen put a limit on edit time but if we need to revisit and advert as "sold" etc. it prevents this.
All the best, JJ.
